Description
This is a very nicely made lapel pin for the "IMPROVED ORDER OF THE RED MEN" Fraternal Organization.
The Improved Order of the Red Men was officially organized in 1834 from the previous Society of Red Men (which had organized in 1813).  The Organization traces it origins to the original Sons of Liberty, and remains in existence today making it the oldest patriotic Fraternal Organization formed in the United States.
It is a screwback pin.
Features a raised relief Indian Chief with mutli colored enameled headdress atop a red, white and blue background.
The pin measures about 3/4" high and 5/8" across.
The back is marked "PATENTED MAY 1908".
Excellent original condition, shows very minimal wear and rub.  See pictures.
