Description

For Sale Here:
Very rare ca. 1920s set and lot of 8 House of David postcards in their original retail envelope. See photos for postcards and images.
4 of the 8 postcards show baseball players for the House of David baseball team of the 1920s (research suggests 1925 or so), made famous by being discussed in Ken Burns baseball history documentary of the 1990s--the baseball stadium image is really kind of cool. The importance of this team and the House of David can be determined by a simple internet search. The 4 other non-baseball postcards have pictures of interest to those who find this offshoot religious colony and group to be of interest, including trains, buildings of the colony, and band members.
Postcards were never used, show no writing or postal service markings, and are generally in VG+ to EX-MT in condition. Third party grading companies might grade these--at least one is on EBay right now in an old SGC holder. Cardboard stock on all cards is solid and there are no creases on any of the postcards. Postcards are app 3.5 x 5.5 inches in size.
Envelope is in fair condition but a really neat thing to hold and tie this group together. The famous image of the batter is on the front (please note the area of scratching and paper loss in the middle of the batter on the envelope), as is their famous mini-train, and there is some religious text on the back. Envelope fold-over lip is present but creased and no-doubt fragile.
There are 9 items total in this lot--8 postcards and one envelope.
