    Description

    Behold The Rare & Elusive
    1954 Slingerland
Masonite 24" Bass Drum & Matching 14" Snare Shell
Repainted a most wonderous blue color with silver sparkles sprinkled into the wet blue paint
Yup it certainly is. But it's rare as hell. Last Masonite Bass that sold on the internet did 0 with half the Duco Paint peeled off.
Both shells have the Mid 1950s Badge with correct aluminum grommet.
    95% of the Bass is
    Complete,
    Original and Working.
I added new washers under the tension rods.
Front head old clear with Slingerland Logo.
    Front Hoop original.
Batter head is a new Remo PS4.
Batter side hoop non original but old. Physical condition is good.
The snare shell has the correct badge, the o
riginal Top & Bottom Single Flange Hoops, and the
Vintage Strainer & Butt That Were On It.
The snare shell shows some slight cracking on the outside, but none showing on the inside.
The genius craftsman who modified this drum shell back in the day drilled 3 extra holes to mount a non original 2 screw mount strainer. The original was the 3 hole type.
    The Snare Drum Parts include:
    1) The 14" Snare Shell w/ Label as described
    2) The two (2) original chrome hoops for it
    3) The strainer and butt that were on it when I got it
    That's All
I do not have the lugs, the hooks, or the rods.
When I discovered these treasures were the Elusive Masonite Shell Bass & Snare Drums made in the Mid 1950s, I didn't know what to think.
    Why are these so rare?
Is there a secret Masonite Cult somewhere that has bought up the world's supply of Slingerland Masonite Drums of the mid 1950s, and is hoarding them for some dark purpose?
