300 Years Güldengossa Castle:
The bars "300 years Güldengossa Castle" is a unique anniversary issue on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Güldengossa Castle, which was built in 1720, and has a varied and eventful history.

The project began with the realization that Güldengossa Castle will be three hundred years old in 2020 and will celebrate its anniversary accordingly. It would actually be time to immortalize this in the form of a beautiful, exclusive bar. Unfortunately, this did not succeed in the first attempt - especially because of the situation around Corona. So I´m pleased that it has then still worked in 2020 - the anniversary year - with a limited edition of 300 pieces (leaning on the 300 years) in the size (of initially) 1 OZ! Here is now the set from 1 gram to 1 OZ (set of 5 bars)!
The GERMAN bars shows in the certificate, in contrast to the usual Geiger original edition of the bar - the Güldengossa Castle itself, as it looked in 1720 (front), and as it presents itself today (2020 back).

The mintage was set at just 300 pieces GERMAN and 300 pieces USA!!! On the one hand the analogy - as already mentioned above - and on the other hand because it should be something really special.
In addition to the certificate, the bars are an absolute novelty:
They carry their own private serial numbers! A fist time ever for GEIGER.
The GERMAN VERSION begins with the initial letters "SG" which stand for Schloss Güldengossa. The following digits first indicate the weight in grams and then logically go from "bar number 1" to the bar number 300.
The USA VERSION begins with the initial letters “CG” which stands for Castle Güldengossa. Then the following digits first indicate the weight in grams and then logically go from "bar number 1" to the bar number 300.
As a further distinguishing feature, Mr. Alalbert Geiger has his signature on the reverse of every bar, usually they are signed by a production manager. I think Mr. Geiger has done everything right from my point of view with the purchase of the Castle Güldengossa, the renovation, and the idea to make this a trademark on his own bars, and making the Castle today his home office and head quarters!
In addition, here is a brief historical background and the turbulent history of the Güldengossa Castle also in with the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig in 1813....
And there is a fascinating story behind these bars.
The castle minted on the bars is situated in the tiny village Güldengossa, close to the city of Leipzig, 160km away from Berlin.
The village is 800 years old and the castle was built 300 years ago in the Baroque style.
The history of the castle of Güldengossa is closely connected with famous personalities. The builder of the castle was a close friend of the composer Johann Sebastian Bach, the famous German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe bought platinum from al later owner of the castle.
A great moment experienced the castle in the final phase of the Napoleonic wars in autumn 1813. After he has lost the war against Russia the French Emperor Napoleon I. tried to take revenge on German soil in order to save his throne. But a mighty coalition of Russia, Austria, Britain and several German states fought against the great French emperor and military leader. After some changeable battles the decisive battle of this campaign culminated in October 1813 in the tremendous battle of Leipzig – and the village of Güldengossa and the castle played a remarkable role.
The village of Güldengossa was amidst the battleground where more than a half million of soldiers fought against each other.
The rule of the tiny village changed 8 times during the three days lasting battle. The village was destroyed during this horrible battle completely. There was barely any stone left on any other buildings. But – and this was a wonder indeed, the castle as the by far biggest building of the village wasn’t hit by any shot.
Why, what was the reason?
This is rather simple: the castle served as a hospital where they treated wounded soldiers of all fighting nations by physicians of all fighting nations – despite who was the ruler in the village at the moment. There was no time and no reason to look who is enemy and who is friend, the wounded soldiers had to be treated right now. And all the generals outside the castle were well aware of it – maybe he would be the next patient? So they took great care by not shooting at the castle.
Therefore the castle of Güldengossa was a bizarre island of peace among an ocean of a callous war demanding more than 100,000 victims.
The lesson of the castle of Güldengossa should be that all nations could cooperate peacefully together independent of their race, nation and religion, but please not amidst war and killing but in peace for the progress and welfare of the mankind.
