    Description

Football Stadium Camp Randall Field University of Wisconsin Madison, WI 1909
For bid is an original, photo-litho postcard of an early view of Camp Randall Field (1895-1916) in Madison, WI. Expanded in 1917 as Camp Randle Stadium, it was home to University of Wisconsin Badgers football. Although the postcard is postmarked in 1909 and denotes a championship game, in fact, the photo dates to 1904, and the Badgers did not play for the Western Conference (pre-Big Ten) championship that year or any year through 1909. (In 1906 they went undefeated and were conference co-champs but there was no championship game.) No publisher or publication number is shown but the card was made in Germany. The postcard measures 5 7/16 x 3 7/16 inches and is postmarked 9-?-09. It is in
    VERY
    GOOD-EXCELLENT
condition with modest corner wear and a tiny “X” written near the left edge on the front.
I am liquidating my long-time collection of stadium postcards and will be listing new items weekly as time permits.
