    Description

This 1940's vintage Arranbee composition doll stands approximately 17" tall with no skate blades. (She would be 20" with the blades.) She is a Nancy Lee all original Skater Doll and her outfit is all original. She can be seen on page 84 of the ID & Value Guide ARRANBEE DOLLS "The Dolls that Sell on Sight" by DeMillar & Brevik. The book shown in the above pictures does not come with her. Her condition is really very good especially considering her age. She has been well cared for and her composition has not been coated or polyurethaned, the composition is all original. She does have light crazing here & there,  but it is old & surface only, smooth to the touch & not lifting at all. I feel it gives her character. Much of it can only be seen with a magnifier. Her hands & fingers remain as beautiful & delicate as ever with no chips or painted nails. I chose not to remove her skates, because I feel they have never been removed, but I did palpate her feet & toes & they appear to be in perfect condition.  Her beautiful peach color skating costume with the cream color ric-rac trim does have fading here & there overall but still displays well. It comes in 2 pieces with the jacket that closes with a single large white side button & the sleeveless dress beneath. I see no holes or tears, or old repairs. Her matching panties are trimmed in red trim at the waist & leg holes & is closed in back with what I believe to be the original safety pin that has rusted & left a stain on the inside of the skirt which does come through a little on the outside back of the skirt but inside of a fold as I have shown in an above photo.  The material feels like very soft felt. Her matching hat with ric-rac trim has a cream color tassel on the right side & ties at the chin with the matching tassels. The leather-like Ice skates are original & in great condition with the original laces, but missing the blades. One sole is missing & one sole needs glue. She has her original white nylon socks. Her stringing is good, not loose. Her pretty blue sleep eyes open & close with ease & her eyeliner, brows, real upper & painted lower lashes, lip color & blush all remain strong as does her blush on her knees. There is a small mark on her left cheek that may or may not remove easily, I have not & will not try. I will leave that up to the new owner. It is not at all distracting when she is on display. Her original style brown mohair wig is full & has not been cut. The back of her neck is marked R&B. She is odorless.  She is quite pretty. If you like vintage composition dolls, you will not be disappointed with her. Thanks for viewing this well cared for 1940's Arranbee R & B 17" (20" with blades) composition doll and please enjoy viewing all the above photos.
