Vintage du MAURIER Cigarette Pack. Empty Box Brown & Williamson. Made in England

Description

A little different from the others I see offered, this paperboard box has a more decorative bottom tray and is not hinged. Instead the top has cut corners and fits loosely over the bottom. They do not appear to be split or torn but intentionally cut as part of the lid design. Perhaps there was a slip or a case that this box was designed to fit inside of, not sure.
The design is similar to the tins that I assume came before this. Other paperboard du Maurier packages here do not have this elegant design. Another difference is that it does not have the quantity printed on the lid but simply reads 'King Size du MAURIER Filter tip.' Inside the lid is printed the duM logo with the slogan, 'When only the best will do!' and the credit for Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corp., Louisville, Kentucky. On the tray bottom is the legal notice, the patent office registration, the credit that the package was made in England, and the Permit No. C-36, State of Kentucky and the count, 20.
The package is in very well preserved, excellent condition overall with a few blemishes here and there. Please view the photos to see all. I notice a slight yellow stain on the inside top lid, just above the logo. It measures 3-3/4 inches by 3-3/8 inches by 7/8 inch.It is printed in red, silver and black.
